Actor / Comic / Entrepneuer / Teacher
Versatile actor, irreverent comedian, and successful entrepreneur, Keary is the friend you always invite to the party in spite of yourself. Charismatic, thoughtful, sensitive, and simultaneously abhorrent, loud, and sardonic, Keary is like a plate of stale french fries, both unpleasant and irresistible.
Driven by his irrepressible passion for stand-up comedy and acting, Keary founded Creative Veins Performing Arts in 2017. An outspoken critic of self-indulgent artists, supporters of the status quo, and those who exude mediocrity, he’s likened to a tenacious cockroach that won’t die, but to those who work with him, his friends, family, and students, he’s recognized as a highly intelligent professional and passionate mentor with uncompromising standards. If you ask him, “The truth is probably somewhere in the middle. I see myself as a lion thinning the herd. Not everyone can do this work and if you can’t, you need to go do something you can do. The performing arts can’t be purely about self-expression; because they require an audience, people must give you their time, part of their life, so you owe them something. If you can’t provide value, then you need to go and let someone who can take your place.”
A long-time horror fan, his favorite role to date was playing Jason Voorhees in the Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights XXV spots. "I didn't have any lines, you can't see my face, but growing up, Jason was my favorite slasher. Strapping on that iconic mask was a dream come true." Recently, Keary has starred in Killer Couples, Murder Calls, and the independent films Bronco, directed by Tyler Falbo, and In This City, directed by Paul DeChant. He's also a writer, director, and producer, and currently working on a book about his revolutionary stand-up curriculum. "I'd prefer just to tell people I'm an actor or a comedian, depending on the job I’m doing at the time. I hate hyphens and would prefer to let my work speak for itself than to go around trying to impress people with bullshit titles."
I act both on stage and screen, have been a stand-up for over 15 years, and have coached many award-winning comedians. I am also available for voice-over and hosting. Please see my resumé for the details of my experience and skills.
I have a very strong technology background and I feel like the artistic community underutilized it. Artists tend to do things the way they've always done them but just cheaper and faster when they could be reaching new audiences and creating entirely new experiences. I'm currently working on ways to change how theater is done so that we can reach a more mainstream audience using an agile approach to production rather than a waterfall approach. I'm also finishing up a short film which I plan on producing as a VR/4D experience. My motto is to do the impossible and rather than do what others are doing, follow the same path that others are on, I'm more interested in what people aren't doing, and where are they afraid to go? I also run a weekly meet-up called Read More Plays, whose primary focus is to do just that. There are so many great stories that are just sitting on shelves, and if you want to be good, you have to surround yourself with good people and good art. I also started vocal and DJ lessons in July of 2023. I am a huge EDM fan and I'm hoping I'll be able to perform my first set this October. To hear more of what I am up to, follow me on social media.
Do you have more questions? Are you interested in collaborating on a project? Send me a message, and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
